Chris’s Pulled Pork – just like Bodeans

Finally!  I hear you cry, yes I’ve been setting up my new iPhone, holidaying in Wales and started my Christmas baking in earnest, not to mention my Christmas crafting… But enough of all that here it is at last – Chris has a thing for delicious meats and a few years ago happened upon pulled pork American BBQ Style at Bodeans!  He has spent his time subsequently trying to find a recipe to come close to the bliss he experienced there!

This is his latest attempt courtesy of google, he came across James Holland’s post (in full below),


You will need a slow cooker to attempt this, if you don’t have one yet, do invest(!) you can pick a decent one up from John Lewis for £23 and they will last for ever!

  • An onion, chopped finely
  • 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce
  • Half a cup of Heinz tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of French’s yellow mustard
  • One third of a cup of Cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of Tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons of Brown sugar
  • Pork shoulder or similar cheap cut

Mix all the wet ingredients together in the slow cooker. Place the pork on top. Roll it around to coat it, and push the mixture into any gaps in the meat.

Put the lid on, cook it on low for 8 hours.

This gave us a fabulously tender pork which did about 5 lunches, 3 dinners and some to go in the freezer for later!!  Super delish with a nice soft bap!
